Lucas Royes spoke at a press conference before the match against Concarneau.
Lucas, fans don’t know much about you yet. What do you think are the strong points of your game?
LR : The start of the season was rather complicated in terms of results. The change of coach was a real shock. So far, it’s worked for us. We’ve been able to question ourselves. The recent momentum is good and bodes well for the future. We’ve bounced back from two straight defeats. That creates cohesion and, above all, confidence.
You played two games in the league and the same number in the Cup, but you didn’t play for several months. How did you cope with your return to Châteauroux?
LR : I’ve evolved in a number of positions, in attack or as a piston. I prefer to play up front. I’m trying to adapt, and that’s important. I want to be of service to the team. If the coach needs me, I try to give my best, whatever the position, to be useful to the team. The aim is to get good results. The team comes first.
Communication is essential as a goalkeeper. How does playing behind closed doors change your approach to the game?
LR : It’s going to be a tough game. Châteauroux are fighting to stay up. They’ll be a motivated team, who certainly won’t have forgotten the result of the first leg. We’ve prepared seriously for the match, as usual. The group is aware of the importance of the match for the rest of the season. This match could be a turning point.
