The Red Devils showed mental strength to defeat Châteauroux after conceding an early goal. A good reaction, a return to winning ways, and FCR is back at the top of the table.
In the rain at the Gaston-Petit stadium, Rouen were caught cold by an early goal from Piquionne (1-0, 3′). A brutal blow? The Red Devils got back into the game and, after several chances (5′, 14′, 17′, 19′) and especially a header from Bassin that went wide (21′), they equalized. With a powerful strike under the bar, following a good pass from Bezzekhami in the box, Kérouédan scored his first goal for the Red Devils (1-1, 32′). Shortly after, a powerful shot from Ba-Sy flew just wide of Lavallée’s goal (34′). Piquionne’s header also grazed Temperton’s post in the final attempt of the first half (45′).
After the break, Bezzekhami quickly made his presence felt, but Lavallée made a good save (46′). Then the two teams traded blows in a matter of minutes, with chances at both ends for FCR (51′, 61′) and La Berrichonne (57′, 62′). Finally, after several changes on both sides, FCR took the lead! Chahid was sent off for a second yellow card (78′). From the free kick taken by Renel, Faye headed the ball and hit the post. Mendy was waiting in ambush (1-2, 80′)! This one-goal advantage was decisive. FCR returned to winning ways and regained the top spot!
