Clément Bassin spoke at a press conference before the match against Nancy.
What is your assessment of this season?
CB: We had late recruitment. Everything fell into place late. I think we’re doing pretty well. We lacked consistency at times, with some unfinished games. The team was capable of better. Unfortunately, at this level, there’s no room for error. Mid-table is where we belong, based on our performances.
On a personal level, you played 28 games, still as captain. How did you feel about your season?
CB: Personally, I’m pretty satisfied with the season. I scored twice and made four assists. For a defender, that’s more than respectable. Collectively, I would have liked us to have been better and finished in a more respectable position.
If you had to pick one game from this season, which one would it be?
CB: Definitely the first leg against Quevilly. It was an intense game. There were high expectations. On a personal level, coming from the region, it was important to me. Playing at home, in a Diochon stadium with that kind of atmosphere, was great. Especially since the result was in our favor.
We’re finishing the season in Nancy, who are champions. How are you approaching this match?
CB: We’re still competitors. Everyone will give it their all. We want to finish as high and as well as possible to get a good start on preparing for next season. For them, it’s going to be a great celebration, and we congratulate them on their title.
