FC Rouen won in Le Puy and remains at the top of the table. The Red Devils put in a solid performance.
FCR was determined to bounce back after its defeat against Châteauroux. It did just that with a win at the Stade Massot in Le Puy-en-Velay. Against Les Ponots, Les Diables Rouges quickly gained a numerical advantage after Nsingi was sent off (11′) for a dangerous tackle on Mendy, who was forced to leave the field. Nsingi had lit the fuse, but found Temperton in his way (4′).
Coming on in place of Mendy, Ba-Sy opened the scoring after a rush down the left wing (0-1, 21′). Bezzekhami, on a pass from Seydi, missed the chance to double the lead (34′). But Seydi did not, giving FCR a two-goal lead before the break with a pass from Rocha, scoring on his first appearance with the Red Devils (0-2, 43′). With a superb save, Temperton preserved the two-goal lead as the teams headed into the locker rooms (45′).
After the break, Goumot (57′) and Irabor (59′) missed the target and opportunities to reduce the deficit. Finally, the third and last goal of the match went to Rouen. Rocha converted a penalty won by Ba-Sy (73′). The end of the match saw both teams have chances to score. Titebah (83′) and Ba-Sy (86′) were denied by the goalkeeper, while Temperton kept a clean sheet (84′), his second of the season. This was the FCR’s third win of the season after six games.
