FCR Loses in Villefranche

FCR Loses in Villefranche

Trailing at halftime in Villefranche, Rouen tried to mount a comeback after the break, but to no avail. FCR suffered its fourth loss of the season.

The Caladois quickly created danger in front of the Rouen goal. Temperton made a save against Leye (9′), but could do nothing about Louzif’s 20-yard strike into the top corner (1-0, 13′). Leye then missed the target and the chance to double the lead (20′). While the FCR was playing better and creating more in Villefranche’s half, the home team doubled their lead (2-0, 33′). The Rouen side ended the first half in the opposition’s half, sending crosses into the box. But there were no chances for the Red Devils, just as there had been throughout the first half.

After the break, three substitutions were made for Rouen, who started the second half strongly. But once again, the first chance fell to Caladois. Touho shot wide (50′). The Red Devils then began a siege in the opposition’s half. After several contentious moments in the Villefranche box, a penalty was finally awarded for a foul on Ba-Sy. Ba-Sy himself hit the post, but Seydi followed up and narrowed the gap (2-1, 67′). Ba-Sy, once again, was denied by Péan, while in the same play and in the other box, Mixtur had previously hit the post (73′). Péan was once again there at his near post a few minutes later (77′) . The end of the match was frantic with chances on both sides: a scramble that no Rouen player could finish (84′) and long-range attempts for Villefranche (82′, 85′), as well as a one-on-one by Mixtur that went over the bar (94′).
