Reduced to 10 men in the second half, FCR was overturned by Châteauroux. The Red Devils lost for the first time this season.
For the return of the crowd to the Diochon stadium, the Red Devils got off to a thunderous start. Bouzamoucha narrowly missed the target with a header (4′), then almost immediately afterwards, Bassin, well positioned in the box, was denied by the Châteauroux goalkeeper (6′). Twenty minutes later, Lavallée was powerless to stop another strike from our captain. From 20 meters out, Bassin found the side netting with a sublime low shot (1-0, 28′). It was a logical lead for FCR, which Temperton preserved with a fine save from a shot by Konaté (38′). The Châteauroux goalkeeper also maintained the lead with a save from a shot by Abi (44′).
After the break, Châteauroux came back stronger and quickly equalized. In a chaotic move, after a save by Temperton and a clearance off the line, Goncalves found the top corner (1-1, 50′). This equalizer was followed by Abi’s sending off for a second yellow card (55′). The rest of the match was marred by fouls and cards. Down to ten men, FCR conceded a second goal, scored by Verdier (1-2, 82′). Shortly after, Ba-Sy found himself in a good shooting position, but Lavallée deflected the ball (83′). A few minutes later, the goalkeeper blocked another attempt by our number 21 (90′). FCR was unable to equalize and suffered its first defeat of the season.
