FCR put in a convincing performance to defeat FC Versailles. The Red Devils are now unbeaten in eleven games and finish the first half of the season with a fine victory and at the top of the table.

An impressive FCR won at the Georges Lefevre stadium to end the first half of the season with a victory. Stunning, because Versailles opened the scoring early on through Ouchen (1-0, 3′). Rouen responded at the end of the first quarter of an hour with two big chances in quick succession. Yavorsky, twice in a minute, pulled off great saves from Bassin (16′) and then Ait Moujane (17′). The match went from one goal to the other, and Renaud missed the target from the edge of the box (19′). The Red Devils then took control of the ball, but apart from a few long-range shots, chances were few and far between. Until the end of the half. Bassin came to the fore again, but his deflected shot went wide (36′). Rocha’s attempt was saved at the last minute by a defender (39′). Rouen finally broke the deadlock from a Cartillier corner, which was headed in at the far post by Bouzamoucha (1-1, 41′).

The Red Devils came back strong after the break. Ba-Sy won a penalty, which Rocha converted (1-2, 53′), putting Rouen ahead. Shortly after, Versailles hit the post twice in the same move from a corner (56′). The last half hour was largely dominated by Rouen. Rocha, set up by Ba-Sy, missed the target (61′). Then, the duo came to the fore again, this time with Rocha providing the pass and Ba-Sy doing the shooting. Our striker shot over the bar after two dribbles (74′) but was rewarded for his efforts with a goal from a right-footed shot into the side netting (1-3, 75′). The fourth goal was then prevented by Yavorsky, who stretched to make the save (79′), while Bezzekhami’s curling shot went wide (92′). The Red Devils won 3-1, in commanding fashion, after a convincing performance. This is their eleventh consecutive game without defeat and puts them at the top of the table at the end of the first half of the season, ahead of next Saturday’s clash with second-placed Dijon at Diochon!
