In its fifth match of the summer, FCR delivered against Al Wakrah, putting in another strong performance and securing another victory, clinched late in the game.
FCR recorded its fourth win of the summer—once again a well-deserved victory—in a match where it created more scoring chances than its opponent from Qatar. Just past the 15-minute mark, Tramoni’s cross was met by Fuss’s header, which sailed over the bar (18’). Al Wakrah also tried to create danger from a corner, with a shot that went wide (6’) and was then blocked by a strong clearance from Frébourg (21’). Fuss was found again in the box just past the half-hour mark. His header, off a cross from Traoré, sailed wide (32’).
After the break, Samoura found himself in a good position in the box but was denied by the goalkeeper (49’). Twenty minutes later, once again well-positioned inside the box, Samoura was stopped by the goalkeeper once more (66’). Rouen was finally rewarded for its strong performance at the end of regulation time. After a nice play down the right flank between Camara and Gaspar, the latter’s cross found Bassin at the edge of the box. Our captain’s half-volley found the top corner (1-0, 88’). It was the only goal of the match, capping off another strong performance by the Red Devils.
