FCR Secures Another Win Against Aubagne

Playing pragmatically early on, then showing teamwork and resilience to hold onto their lead, FCR defeated Aubagne and continues its strong start to the season.

For a Saturday afternoon debut at Diochon, you didn’t want to be late. After just 35 seconds of play, Aubagne’s net was already rattling. The Rouen side combined on the left with Karamoko and Bassin. Our number 10 sent a low cross toward Pacius, who beat Touré (1-0, 1′). After that fine opening play, the FCR then lacked sharpness in their attacks. Aubagne took control of the ball, though without posing a threat—Maraval was on guard in his six-meter box (29′)—while the Red Devils also struggled to get near the opponent’s box. On one of Rouen’s deep attacking runs, Aubagne goalkeeper Touré was sent off for handling the ball outside his box (37′). A long stoppage in play followed, just as it had after Rouen’s opening goal. The referee therefore added 8 minutes of stoppage time to the first half. In the very first minute of stoppage time, Touré came close to scoring with a clear long-range shot that sailed just over the crossbar of Moreira, the SCAAB’s new goalkeeper (45+1’).

After returning from the locker room, the FCR came close to scoring again right at the start of the second half. Tramoni sent Karamoko through on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Karamoko failed to convert (49′). Moments later, the Aubagne goalkeeper tipped Tramoni’s shot away for a corner (50′). Aubagne responded through Cissé. The forward missed the target (59′) and, more importantly, was denied by Marval while alone in the box (65′). Substitutions then allowed the FCR to finish the match stronger. Two of them, in particular, made their mark. Diaby crossed to Sommer, who shot from point-blank range, but Moreira was in the way (91′). The Red Devils thus held on to a one-goal lead. It was enough to secure the win and extend their unbeaten streak.
