In a lively match, the Red Devils never gave up and won at the end of the game against a strong RC Lens team.
The first chances of the match were for Rouen, who got off to a flying start. Goprou had two headers saved by Jourdren (1′). The Lens goalkeeper deflected another header from Fuss (8′) and was again on hand to catch another shot from our number 15 (18′). In the meantime, Lens was effective and scored twice in three minutes through Diallo (0-1, 9′) and then Sylla (0-2, 12′). The Red Devils reduced the deficit before the half-hour mark through Fuss, with a fine strike under the bar (1-2, 25′), and had a good chance to equalize, but Ait Moujane missed the target after a Rouen attack (35′). Shortly afterwards, Lens regained their two-goal lead thanks to Dié (1-3, 36′). A few minutes later, Rouen had two more chances to score. Bassin hit the side netting (39′) and then, in a good position, was blocked (45′).
After the break and just before the hour mark, Lens scored a fourth goal through Garnier (1-4, 58′). Four minutes later, Bassin volleyed a shot that went over the bar (62′). Régis Brouard then made seven changes for the last half hour. Two substitutes quickly made their mark. Ba-Sy (67′) and then Cartillier (68′) were denied by Jourdren, before Gerbeaud won a penalty that was converted by Rocha (2-4, 70′). Ba-Sy, with two shots from the edge of the box, saw Jourdren intervene twice (74′, 77′). However, the Lens goalkeeper was powerless to stop two shots from Mbock (3-4, 79′) and Ba-Sy (4-4, 80′)! Having drawn level, FCR saw Maraval’s shot hit the post (83′). Then this crazy friendly match was finally turned on its head by Rouen thanks to a sublime strike from Ndeke into the top corner (5-4, 88′)! Mbock came close to scoring a second, but hit the post (90′).
FCR won against the young Lens team. The positive spiral continues before they return to the National league in seven days’ time in Aubagne.
