Despite the loss in Lens, FCR put in a strong performance

In this charity match organized in support of Christophe Gleizes, FCR put in a strong performance in Lens. After falling behind by two goals in the space of a few minutes, the Red Devils cut the deficit thanks to a goal by Fuss.

In this friendly match, Lens naturally took control of the ball and dominated play in Rouen’s half. The Red Devils held their ground, remaining solid and alert in the box, as demonstrated by Bassin’s clearance off a shot by Sima (38’). Earlier, at the start of the match, Maraval had deflected a shot by Thomasson (5’), while just before halftime, Ganiou’s header sailed over the crossbar (42’). In the first half, Rouen also managed to create chances. After a nice move down the left flank, Benzia tried his luck from the edge of the box but missed the target (6′). Then, just past the half-hour mark, Ba-Sy also shot wide following a two-man corner (33′).

After the break, just as in the first half, Maraval was quickly called into action (55′). He could do nothing to stop Said’s penalty (1-0, 56′), nor Bulatovic’s direct free kick (2-0, 61′). Meanwhile, Cartillier’s volley sailed over the bar following good work by Fuss (60′). Fuss then curled a shot from the left side of the box, over the bar (67′), but didn’t miss the chance to cut the deficit ten minutes later, finishing off a nice move involving Egny and then Cartillier (2-1, 76′). The Red Devils put in a strong performance at Bollaert-Delelis and lost by a single goal.
