Axel Temperton spoke at a press conference before the match against Villefranche.
You joined the club recently. Can you tell us a bit about your career?
AT : Hello to all the fans, I’m very happy to be joining the club. The nice little story is that I started playing soccer with FCR at the age of 6. I played there until I was 10-11 before leaving for Grand-Quevilly FC. I continued my training at QRM. My senior career began at Mesnil-Esnard/Franqueville, in R2, with a promotion to R1. Then I joined Oissel, where I played for three seasons. Now I’m at FC Rouen with my first contract, and it’s a great story after starting out here.
What are your strengths in the game?
AT : It’s always difficult to talk about yourself. Among my strengths, I’m good on the line. One of my big strengths is my footwork. It’s a quality I worked on a lot during my training. I like to take part in the game and play as a defender to help my team get the ball out.
What does FCR mean to you?
AT : It’s huge for someone from the region, because I’ve always lived here. I started out here and now I’m coming back. It’s an enrichment for me. When you start playing soccer, you always aspire to have a contract. Now I’m with the region’s flagship club, a mythical club. When you see the number of fans at every home match… I can’t wait until Friday to discover this atmosphere, this passion, to experience it from the pitch after having lived it in the stands. To experience all this on the pitch will be exceptional, it means a lot. I’m very proud and grateful to be part of this project.
