FCR Wraps Up Preseason with a Win

The Red Devils wrapped up their preseason with a strong performance and a victory over Avranches. Now it’s time for Ligue 3 Betclic next Friday!

In their sixth and final preseason match, the Red Devils showed their mettle and secured their fifth win in six games this summer. Very early on, Rouen created a chance when Samoura met a cross from Fuss, only to be denied by Beuve (3′). Fuss then capped off a nice play, but his attempt went wide (18′). Avranches created danger just past the half-hour mark. Bassin made a save on the goal line from a 20-meter shot following a rush out by Maraval (33′). Immediately after that opposing attack, the FCR opened the scoring. Gaspar’s perfect cross was met with a winning header by Tchokounté (1-0, 34′). The goalkeepers then stepped up. The Avranches goalkeeper made saves against Samoura (36′) and then Fuss (40′). Maraval made a diving save in stoppage time (45+1′). Just before halftime, Fuss doubled the lead on a penalty kick (2-0, 45+4′).

After the break, and despite an early chance for Fuss that went wide (52′), scoring opportunities were few and far between. But Rouen remained focused and solid throughout the second half. With their defense untroubled, they continued to pose the greatest threat (75′, 89′), but the score remained unchanged. FC Rouen secured a two-goal victory over Avranches, adding another clean sheet to their record. The Red Devils wrapped up their preseason with a record of 5 wins and 1 draw. Now it’s on to Ligue 3 Betclic next Friday at Diochon!
