A solid and serious FC Rouen came away from Valenciennes with a draw. Neither team really got the better of the other.
The first half was rather to FCR’s advantage. Despite a few chances for Oyewusi, the best chances of the first half fell to Rouennais. Abi cut out Mion’s cross, but his shot went wide (9′). Benkaid put together a fine move in the box, but his shot was parried by Michel (44′).
These two actions were the best of the match. After the break, chances were rarer. The goalkeepers were on hand to cut out the action, and shots from good positions were blocked. Both sides could have made a difference from set-pieces. At the end of the game in particular, FCR had an easy time of it after a free-kick was put back in front of goal without being taken by a Valenciennes player.
The score remained blank. A second clean-sheet for Rouen, but not a third victory. Nevertheless, FCR continue their unbeaten run, ahead of another trip to Châteauroux next week.
