Quickly falling behind but responding well and putting in a good performance, FCR was held to a draw by Le Puy. The Red Devils lacked efficiency in both areas to secure the win.
The match got off to a strong start at Diochon. Mendy had a goal disallowed for offside from a corner (3′). Shortly after, Le Puy opened the scoring with a header from Nsingi (0-1, 6′). Once again quickly behind, the Red Devils regrouped and had a good first half, rewarded with an equalizer before the half-hour mark. Ait Moujane crossed, Rocha headed the ball on, and Ba-Sy finished (1-1, 25′). In a good position, Rocha missed the opportunity to give FCR the lead by shooting at Carvalho (34′). From 25 meters out, Ba-Sy’s powerful shot went wide (36′).
After the break, FCR came up against the excellent Carvalho, the Puy goalkeeper, on several occasions. Quick to react in the six-yard box to clear a scramble (58′), he then caught a bicycle kick from Mendy (62′) and, most importantly, denied Fuss (71′) before stretching to save a shot from Seydi (81′). Seydi, who had just come on, could also have found the net with a header from a good cross by Ait Moujane, but his attempt grazed the post (74′). At the other end, the Ponots sent a shiver down the spine with a double chance: Temperton deflected a header from Gauthier, then Adelaide, alone, missed the target (65′). The score remained unchanged in the second half, with FCR drawing for the third consecutive game at Diochon.
