French Cup

11 October 2025

FC Rouen was eliminated in the fifth round of the Coupe de France by Alençon. Rouen lacked efficiency and was punished at the end of the match.

Rouen suffered the first chance of the match. Royes deflected Toufiqui’s shot (4′). The Red Devils, in blue at the Jacques Fould stadium, then took the upper hand, but lacked efficiency. Ba-Sy (15′), Gerbeaud (23′), and Faye (26′) all missed the target. Faye saw his shot saved on the line by a defender with the goalkeeper beaten (18′). Despite these opportunities and several corners, FCR failed to find the net in the first half.

Nor did they in the second half, despite several more chances: shots off target (48′, 78′), strikes saved by a formidable Duval in goal (60′, 95′) or cleared off the line by a defender, again, this time from an attempt by Abi (89′). Nothing worked for FCR in their attempts to find the net at the Stade Jacques Fould. At the other end, Royes saved from El Hamdaoui (55′) and Traoré (76′), but could do nothing about the former’s pass to the latter (1-0, 82′). It was the only goal of the game. FCR is eliminated from the Coupe de France in the fifth round.
