FCR Defeats Dieppe

FCR put in an impressive performance against Dieppe and was rewarded with a win in its second preseason match. The game capped off a successful week of training camp.

After an even first ten minutes, Rouen created three good scoring chances during a strong stretch. Fuss’s shot was deflected (11’). At the end of a fine attacking sequence, Gaspar’s cross couldn’t be converted (14’). Two minutes later, Bassin was denied by Cognard, and then Tramoni’s shot was cleared off the line (16’). After a well-placed pass from Karamoko, Faye, in a good position inside the box, missed the target (28’). From the edge of the box, Samoura also saw his shot go wide of the goal after a good cross from Borne and a layup from Faye (32′). Shortly after, Sommer combined with Tramoni in the box and found himself in a good shooting position, only to be denied once again by Cognard (35′). Earlier, Maraval had stretched to deflect a free kick taken from the edge of the box (34′). Finally, just before the halftime whistle, FCR deservedly opened the scoring. A good cross from Borne was headed on by Faye to Samoura, who finished from close range (1-0, 45′)!

The second half began with six substitutions for Rouen. The Red Devils continued to create chances, though they were less dangerous than in the first half. Shots from 25 meters by Gakpa (50′) and Karamoko (58′) went wide, while Traoré’s attempt was easily caught (53′). Leading by a single goal, Rouen saw their lead erased by a goal from Sertoglu, who tapped in a shot that had been parried by Sanglier (1-1, 68′). No sooner had the equalizer been scored than FCR pushed forward again, but Karamoko was denied by Boudet (70′). Also well-positioned in the box after a fine run, Diaby missed the target with a powerful shot (85′), while the referee had disallowed a goal by Traoré—set up by Samoura—for offside (83′). Viana then restored Rouen’s lead for good with a beautiful shot across the goal into the bottom corner of Dieppe’s net (2-1, 86′)! FCR secured the victory following an impressive performance and at the end of a successful training camp week in Forges-les-Eaux.
