Rouen and Orléans neck and neck

Leading in the first half, FCR came away with a point from Orléans after a scare at the end of the game. Rouen joins Dijon and Sochaux in a three-way tie with 42 points.

On Orléans’ first corner of the match, Temperton saved a header from close range (7′). USO controlled the ball, while FCR played on the counterattack. Launched by Kérouédan, Ba-Sy ran up the field to enter the box, but his shot went wide (19′). Ba-Sy was then found in the box again and won a penalty for a handball. Rocha converted the penalty perfectly (0-1, 26′). But ten minutes later, Orléans equalized through the league’s top scorer, El Khoumisti (1-1, 36′).

After the break, despite a few well-timed counterattacks, including a quick one finished by Seydi (74′, shot wide) after passes from Ba-Sy and Fuss, the chances and opportunities were all for Orléans. First with shots from the edge of the box, then with more danger as the game drew to a close. Temperton deflected a shot from Luyambula onto the post (87′). Mendy cleared the danger after a scramble in the six-yard box (93′), and in the last action of the game, the crossbar denied El Khoumisti (97′). The referee blew the final whistle with the score tied. FCR brought home a point from Orléans.
