FCR brings home a point from Caen

Showing solidarity in the second half despite being a man down, and after an effective first half, the Red Devils take a point in Caen.

Rouen took the lead fairly quickly in this regional clash. Titebah’s cross was perfect after a good run down the wing, and Bassin volleyed home with his left foot (0-1, 13′). Our captain had already made his mark early on, with a shot saved by Mandrea after 11 seconds (1′). Ahead on the scoreboard, the Red Devils were then focused and well organized, but unable to create any new opportunities. However, they didn’t concede any either. Unfortunately, they were caught off guard before halftime on a cross-shot from Hafid (1-1, 43′).

After the break, Rouen were quickly reduced to ten men when Benzia was sent off for a second yellow card (53′). Down to ten men, Rouen showed great solidarity to contain Caen, who were only dangerous from long-range shots. The Red Devils defended well and gave the Malherbists a scare with a header from Bassin (79′) and a shot from Seydi (81′). Both attempts were ultimately saved without difficulty by Mandrea.

At the end of the match, Botella was also sent off for a tackle on Bezzekhami (87′). The match ended 10 against 10 with one goal each. FCR has now gone six games without defeat and remains at the top of the National league.
